Some STIs have no symptoms and if left untreated can result in infertility in both sexes and other serious medical conditions. The good news is that treatment for most STIs is simple and painless. Some of the most common STIs can be treated with a one-day antibiotic course.
If you are pregnant and think you might have picked up a STI, it is particularly important to get it checked out and treated as soon as possible.
The staff at Medixclinic are trained to screen for and treat sexually transmitted infections in an understanding and helpful way so there is no need for you to feel embarrassed.
An STI screening will take about 30 minutes.
A typical screening will involve a physical examination, the collection of fluid samples as well as a blood test.
At Medixclinic, STI screening will test for the following infections: HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Trichomonas and Herpes if clinically indicated.
Please avoid emptying your bladder for 90 minutes prior to the appointment.
