Micro Needling Treatment

As the Rejuvapen treats your skin, it creates micro-point punctures in the skin. This is perceived by the body as damage, which stimulates the release of growth factors that trigger the production of collagen and elastin. Your skin reacts to any injury by initiating the healing process. Your skin normally assumes that scars, stretch marks and wrinkles are repaired, but with micro needling treatments, the skin is tricked into repairing itself and to produce more collagen and elastin.

The process of micro needling skin remodeling can go on for months after each microneedling treatment. Results can be seen within a week to a few months. Your skin naturally heals itself every 45 days, so with microneedling stimulation changes can be dramatic and fast.

Our specialist surgeon can consult you on a prescribed treatment. Different skin conditions need specific treatment regimens. As well as being affected by the age of each patient. 2-3 aggressive micro-needling treatments will provide a noticeable difference, however 5-6  treatments will show the most dramatic results. It is important to work with our surgeon on what treatment specifics to observe. Once the treatment has the desired effect, it is important to maintain collagen stimulation by returning to our clinic, and performing a new micro-needling treatment every 12-24 weeks.

Not at all, prior to your treatment we will remove make up and deeply cleanse your skin using an antiseptic and then we apply an anaesthetic cream until your skin is numb. This makes the process pain free. You will feel the Dermapen™ on your skin, so you will feel a sensation but no pain. The Dermapen™ device is more comfortable than traditional micro-needling because the needles are smaller. The advantage of Dermapen™ over conventional skin needling rollers is that it can treat difficult areas such as around the eyes and upper lip which are often difficult to treat effectively with conventional rollers. The treatment is virtually painless, with little or no down time depending on the level of treatment and the area being treated. It can be made with varied intensity and is adjusted individually to the needs of the client. The treatment is suitable for all ages and is extremely effective.

Visible results of skin rejuvenation are generally seen within a week and up to 6-8 weeks following the procedure and improve further over time.  A course of micro-needling sessions is usually recommended to achieve optimum results, however skin improvement is generally noticeable after just  one treatment.

Skin micro-needling does not involve injections and therefore allergic reactions and side-effects are unlikely to occur. It is minimally invasive, involves minimal downtime (approximately 24 hrs), rapid healing and requires simple after-care.Side effects experienced with Dermapen™ will usually subside within 48 hours. They include erythema, stinging, itching and tightness of the skin.

• Day 1 Erythema and red appearance and severity will depend upon how aggressive the treatment was performed.
• Day 2  A red hue or pink hue persists like moderate sunburn. Swelling may be more noticeable on the second day.
• Day 3  Skin can be pink or normal colour. Swelling subsides.

Use tepid water to cleanse the face for the following 48 hours and dry gently. Always make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area.

 Following your treatment, the skin may feel drier than normal. Drink plenty of water to hydrate and restore the skin back to perfect balance.

 It is recommended that make up is not applied for 12 hours after the procedure although your practitioner may be able to supply you with specialized mineral make-up that they feel would be suitable for use during this period. Do not apply any make-up with a make-up brush, especially if it is not clean.

Immediately after the procedure apply a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with a SPF30. A chemical-free sunscreen is highly recommended.
